Adam Sandler is an actor that did not have the childhood that most of the other actors and actresses did. He was born in Brooklyn, New York in 1966; however, he was not born to parents that were already a part of the film industry. Actually, in the beginning, Sandler did not have a thought about becoming an actor. Originally, he wanted to be a standup comedian. He did not get to start working on this dream until he was 17. This was when Sandler decided to try his hand at being a comedian. This was an important step for him because this was when he realized that he was a natural comedian. When he first hit the stage, he did not have anything written, and basically winged the entire thing.

After realizing that he had a natural talent, Adam Sandler decided that he should take the time to strengthen it. This was when Sandler went to New York University to work on making his talents better. In 1991, he graduated with a Bachelor's Degree in Fine Arts. His first year of college was when he played his first television role in 1984 on The Cosby Show. During this time, Sandler still spent a lot of his time performing standup comedy in a wide variety of universities and clubs. When he was performing standup comedy in a club in Los Angeles, Dennis Miller saw his show and told Lorne Michaels, who was the producer of Saturday Night Live, that Sandler had talent. Sandler was cast in the show and not only did he act in it, but he also helped write it.
After Adam Sandler worked on Saturday Night Live, Sandler moved onto acting in movies. He was able to make at least one movie each year or two, and each of his movies ended up being box office hits. Sandler's movies are mostly comedies, which is perfect for an actor that originally started out as a standup comedian. Along with making many movies, Sandler writes and produces his own movies as well as composing his own songs. The Chanukah son that he wrote placed on the Billboard charts.
Adam Sandler is one of the actors that have tried his hand at everything performing. Along with acting, he has done standup comedy, singing, and writing. He has made it very far into his career at this point when all that he originally set out to do was to be a standup comedian.
