Angelina Jolie had already known about the film industry when she was very young because her father and mother were both actors. Her father was Jon Voight, and her mother was Marcheline Bertrand. They lived together in Los Angeles, California. She was destined to become an actress, and she did by following in the steps of her parents.

Jolie started actively studying acting when she was 11 at the Lee Strasberg Theatre Institute. During this same time, she was also taking film classes at New York University. After studying for a few years and working with a theater group, Jolie began modeling and doing music videos when she was 16. It was easy for her to jump start her modeling career because she has a unique appearance.

Everyone has to start somewhere, and this is exactly what Jolie did when it came to acting. After she modeled for a while, she began trying out for parts in small movies. Once she had a few different movies that were made for television that she had acted in, she then started trying out for larger roles.

Throughout the 90's, Jolie spent a lot of her time working with smaller parts but it was all worth it when she got her big break in 1999. This was when she obtained a lead role in The Bone Collector with Denzel Washington. Shortly after that, she went on to make Girl, Interrupted with Winona Ryder.

After she had done a couple of major movies, and a few made for television movies, Jolie began to receive many different kinds of awards for her acting. At this point, she had already won a Golden Globe award, and Emmy nomination, and an Oscar. Jolie had hit the big time and was doing very well in her career.

When she went to Cambodia to film Lara Croft: Tomb Raider, she had the opportunity to see the poverty that was in that country. She then decided that she was going to use the money that she had been making from acting to start helping out countries that are in poverty. She decided that she would put a third of the money that she made as an actress towards charity.

In 2005, she costarred in Mr. and Mrs. Smith with Brad Pitt. He was married to Jennifer Anniston at the time, so there were rumors going around that Jolie and Pitt were having an affair. This was not true; however, Pitt did end up divorcing his wife, and soon after started dating Jolie.
