Daniel Craig was born in 1968 in Cheshire, England. His father
worked as the proprietor of a pub, and his mother was an art teacher. His father and mother divorced when Craig was very young, and he was then raised by his mother in Liverpool and areas around there. He showed an interest in acting at a young age, and his mother did everything that she could to encourage this. He and his mother would visit the Liverpool Everyman Theatre, and this piqued his interest in becoming an actor even more.
Craig was only 6 years old when he performed in the Frodsham Primary School's rendition of Oliver! His interest in becoming an actor continued all the way through high school. Some of the plays that Craig performed in were Romeo and Juliet and Cinderella at Hilbre High School. Even though his main focus was on acting, he still had many other things that he was interested in. For example, he was extremely athletic, and played rugby at the Hoylake Rugby Club.
When Craig was 16 years old, he was accepted into the National Youth Theatre troupe and moved to London. This did not make anything easy for Craig because he was still a struggling young actor. His debut with the troupe was in Troilus and Cressida, and in his spare time, he worked in restaurants as waiters to make ends meet. He continued to tour with the National Youth Theatre troupe; however, during this same time he was working hard to be accepted into the Guildhall School of Music and Drama. He did not make it in the first few times that he auditioned, but eventually his persistence paid off and he was accepted into the school in 1988. He graduated from this school in 1991.
Craig is best known for playing James Bond. He is one of 6 men that have ever played this role; however, him playing Bond is interesting because he was the only blonde-haired person that ever has played that role. The name of this popular movie was Casino Royale, and this is one of Craig's most notable performances. There were also a couple of movies that he played supporting roles in such as Road to Perdition and Laura Croft: Tomb Raider.
